Himachal Pradesh – A 5–6-day itinerary in Himachal Pradesh can offer a wonderful mix of breathtaking landscapes, cultural experiences, and adventure activities. Himachal Pradesh, with its stunning Himalayan landscapes, quaint villages, vibrant Tibetan influence, and numerous trekking trails, is a delight for travellers. Here’s a suggested itinerary:

Day 1: Shimla

Morning to Afternoon: Arrive in Shimla. Visit The Ridge, a large open space in the heart of town, offering spectacular views of the mountain peaks. Explore the Mall Road for shopping and dining. Evening: Visit the Jakhoo Temple, dedicated to Lord Hanuman, situated at the highest point in Shimla. The climb up offers good views of the town and the mountains.

Day 2: Shimla to Manali (via Kullu)

Early Morning: Start early for Manali, a scenic drive of about 7-8 hours. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes and consider stopping at Kullu for a short break. Afternoon: On the way, you could stop for river rafting in the Beas River at Kullu (seasonal). Evening: Reach Manali and relax. Explore the Mall Road in the evening if time permits.

Day 3: Manali

Morning: Visit the Hadimba Devi Temple, a unique shrine dedicated to Hidimba Devi, surrounded by a cedar forest. Then, proceed to the Vashisht Village to experience its hot springs. Afternoon: Explore the Manali Sanctuary for a short trek or visit the Manu Temple. Evening: Spend the evening at leisure, exploring the cafes and shops around Old Manali.

Day 4: Solang Valley and Rohtang Pass

Morning to Afternoon: Head to Solang Valley for adventure activities like paragliding, zorbing, and in winters, skiing. Then, if weather and permits allow, proceed to Rohtang Pass for breathtaking views and snow activities. Evening: Return to Manali. Relax and enjoy a calm evening in the town.

Day 5: Dharamshala/McLeod Ganj

Early Morning: Travel to Dharamshala/McLeod Ganj. This will be a long drive (6-7 hours), so starting early is advisable. Afternoon to Evening: Visit the Tsuglagkhang Complex, the Dalai Lama's temple. Explore the Bhagsu Nag Temple and Waterfall, and enjoy the sunset from Naddi View Point or take a walk around Dal Lake.

Day 6: Dharamshala/McLeod Ganj to Departure

Morning: Visit the Namgyal Monastery and then the Norbulingka Institute to appreciate Tibetan culture and art. Afternoon: Depart for your onward journey from Dharamshala. Depending on your departure point, you might want to start in the early afternoon to ensure you reach on time.
